Program Description

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Library events are always free to the public and you do not need a library card to attend!

This program will be presented in-person and virtually on Zoom. Join us in-person in the Auditorium at the FCL Farmington Hills location at 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, MI, 48334. Registration is required to receive the Zoom meeting link.

Join author, photographer, and architectural historian Dale A. Carlson for a fascinating look at some of Metro Detroit’s most influential historical figures—individuals memorialized through the work of renowned architect Albert Kahn.

Carlson will share the stories and legacies of notable figures such as Detroit News founder James Edmund Scripps, U.S. Senator James J. Couzens, University of Michigan President Marion LeRoy Burton, and George Gough Booth, co-founder of Cranbrook, among others.

The presentation will feature professional photographs of the memorials, mausoleums, and grave markers Kahn designed, along with historic images and newspaper clippings that bring their legacies to life.

The talk will run approximately one hour, followed by a Q&A session.
