Join us for an exciting evening celebrating the joy of reading and storytelling!

We’ll kick off the night with a special watch party for Grit in Our Stories  featuring award-winning author Jacqueline Woodson as part of the 2025 African American Read-In, hosted by Oakland County Schools on Zoom.

Jacqueline Woodson is a National Book Award winner and MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow with a vast collection of books for readers of all ages. Some of her beloved titles include Red at the Bone, Brown Girl Dreaming, After Tupac and D Foster, Feathers, and Show Way. The National African American Read-In (AARI) is a nationwide event that brings communities together to read books by African American authors.

After the watch party, we’ll reveal this year’s One School One Book selection with Farmington Public Schools—and we can’t wait to share it with you! To celebrate, come make an origami dog, cuddle up with therapy dogs, build with magna tiles, and take home a recipe for puppy chow. Can you take a guess at the theme for this year's book?

Bonus: The first 30 families to arrive will receive a FREE book to take home!

Mark your calendar and join the fun!
