Program Description

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎

Library events are always free to the public and you do not need a library card to attend!

The Farmington Community Library has two locations. This event will be held in the Computer Lab at the FCL Farmington Hills location at 32737 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, MI, 48334.

The Hands-On program at FCL is a technology-oriented lesson that occurs monthly in the Computer Lab at our Farmington Hills location. Hands-On is a beginner-friendly course with participation encouraged, but not required. We will be using the computers in the Lab, so no device necessary. Bring your questions!

  • Do I still need cable tv subscription?
  • Do streaming services offer live TV too?
  • What’s the best streaming platform for movies?

Internet streaming services provide an alternative to cable TV programming that’s delivered to us on our digital devices, but with Forbes counting over 200 services to choose from, it can be a daunting task deciding which to subscribe to! Join us for this overview on streaming services and get familiar with the top platforms in the industry, the catalogs they offer, and how we can enjoy them on the technology we already own. From live sports to local news, cutting the cable is an exciting possibility in 2025!
